When tech makes you want to pull a Britney 2007…

Welcome to the Fam!

Hey Reader,

Well, the Wayward Wellness Coaching Newsletter has officially commenced! And you're here for it! Consider yourself an OG member. On the flip side - I don’t consider myself technologically illiterate, but MAN, did this week fry my nervous system.

Trying to learn this new email system had me wanting to pull a full-on 2007 Britney and shave my head. The tutorial made it sound like a breeze - don’t they always?

“All you have to do is…”

  • Donate a kidney
  • Perform open heart surgery
  • Intricately glue together fine china
  • And whip up some HTML code you’ve never even heard of

Easy peasy, right?

And of course, after you finally “get it working,” the emails go straight to spam so nobody sees them anyway. Faaaaantastic.

By the time I finally rolled it out, no “mindset hack” was going to cut it. My nervous system didn’t just shit the bed - it spread it around like Nanna with C. diff and dementia. (all my Healthcare peeps, holla)

So I had to use my own techniques to reset and get myself out of fight-or-flight and back into parasympathetic mode (a.k.a. relax + digest). Here are the same ones I’d recommend when the “positive vibes only” train misses the station:

  1. Reset the body - Take a walk. Move. Connect with nature. It doesn’t matter if it’s a full-on workout or just shaking off the tension - movement = medicine.
  2. Breathe - Slow, intentional breathing is the fastest way to calm your system. Funny enough, your cardiovascular system is directly connected to your nervous system via the vagus nerve. That means every slow, deep breath doesn’t just calm your head - it literally tells your heart to chill the hell out, too.
    • Try this: inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 6. Repeat for a few rounds. You’ll feel your shoulders drop and your brain (and probably your jaw…) start to unclench.
  3. Full body scan - From head to toe, notice where you feel discomfort or tightness. Pause there. Ask, “What’s my body trying to tell me?” (You might be surprised at the answer.)
  4. Hydrate + nourish - Skip the caffeine/alcohol. Grab tea, a smoothie, or bone broth. Eat something real and nourishing - food is fuel, not filler.
  5. Listen to something that pumps you up - Personally, I love audiobooks. Right now, I’m into “7 Rules of Power” by Jeffrey Pfeffer. When I need a real mood puncher, I crank weird, edgy music. I won’t scare you with my picks here - but if you’re really curious, hit reply and I’ll share my secret playlist.

By the time I finally launched the email list on social media, my stress had gone from Britney 2007 to “maybe I’ll just live off the grid.” But here’s the truth: even the most resilient people get hijacked by their nervous system.

The difference isn’t that we don’t get stressed - it’s that we notice it and know how to bring ourselves back online. That’s what I want these weekly emails to be for you: a small, no-BS reset button in your inbox.

👉 This week, when life hands you your own “email system” moment - tech frustration, work drama, family chaos - try one of these resets. Then hit reply and tell me which one helped, or share your own trick. (I might even feature it in a future email - with your permission.)

Here’s to fewer Britney moments, more nervous-system resets, and figuring this shit out together.

— Renae

P.S. Want my weird, edgy pump-up playlist? Reply “PUMP ME UP” and I’ll send it your way.

See you next Wednesday - and if you liked this, forward it to a friend so they can join the fam, too.

Hustle Rebels

Some people go to church. Others just need to be reminded that they're the f*cking badass that they are and to keep pushing. Life's hard - everyone could use a hype girl who picks that black shit out of your teeth and tells you to go get em. Every week, I’ll let you in on something happening in my life, what it made me recognize about my own patterns, and how I’m working through it... so you can see what resonates in yours. Fair warning: I’m brash, I swear, and I ask uncomfortable questions. But that's what helps us all grow. This isn’t for pearl-clutching Nancys. It’s for the Betty Whites. If you’re ready to quit sacrificing yourself for the system, subscribe to the Weekly Recharge.
